The manuals are different. FO-650-25 does give a description of the MPU board and FO-605-1
is the manual for the test procedures for the AS2978-3 boards, there is also the FO-650-3
for AS2978-5 & 6
The issue you will have is that the trouble shooting guide and the flowcharts are designed specifically
for the Bally K-661 tester and the Signature analyzer (small box with a readout)
When running these tests and/or following the flowcharts the tester is sending known signals so
that the expected results are known, this is not likely going to be the case when running with the CPU
and a set of standard eproms installed.
Let me give you an idea of what I am talking about. When testing the boards, all eproms, ram and CPU are
removed, the CPU chip is replaced by a 40 pin plug from the K-661 tester, there are also several switches
to allow you to simulate a reset, low voltage, Zero Crossing, Test, Key and Interupt #2
When testing the reset circuit you start by turning all of the switches off and then
checking Pin 11 of U5, which should be 0000 on the Signal Analyzer (SA) this actually would be a logic low,
next would be Pin 12 of U5, this would be F826 on the SA but that is also a logic high, Pin 13 of U5 would also be F826 (high)
Then you would check Pin 3 of U26, this would be F826 (high) and Pin 4 of U26 0000 (low)
After that set of tests you would repeat these with the Reset switch turned on the results would be
U5/11 high, U5/12 low U5/13 high, U26/3 high U26/4 low.
Then with the Reset switch turned on, you need to turn on the Low Voltage switch and the results would be
U5/11 high, U5/12 low U5/13 high, U26/3 high U26/4 low
Finally with only the Low Voltage switch turned on the results would be
U5/11 low, U5/12 high U5/13 high, U26/3 low U26/4 high
All of these results are due or likely due to having a know set of instructions as well has having the ability
to test with different setups (i.e. low voltage and reset both enabled)
