Machine won't recognize door closure. Thoughts?

Hi all:


Picked up an S2000 and, in trying to get it going, I get to the "Please close the main door" message but, closing the door, the message doesn't go away.  The machine had been wired to bypass the door optics.  I thought maybe it wasn't done right so I undid it and hooked up optics -- still, same message persists.  Any thoughts on what might be going on?

Is it a 500 series mpu? Does the board still have the green Varta battery on it. Usually battery leakage does damage to the MPU causing this problem.  If it is a 500 series board the green battery is not required and should be removed before this happens. You can try cleaning the area with a Q-tip and vinegar followed by just plain water. Allow it to completely dry and try it again but most times replacement of the MPU is required.

The belly door switch can cause this problem also if it's bad or the belly door isn't closed tight

I did have a machine about 6 months ago that had the same problem. Mine was that the metal plate on the door latch was not closing the door switch. The latching lever was loose. I tightened those nuts on the slides and still had to bend the latch tab forward a bit. It solved that  machines problem, but I'm leaning towards a MPU board here. Had that too many times..

Must be board related - pulled an enhanced board from a working machine and plugged it in - went right past the open door message (can I get the last 3 hours of wiring and re-wiring back?!).  Then put a new battery on a 500 board, removed the green varta battery, plugged in a sound board and the damn thing works fine -- except that I now need to piece together the right software -- but that's a different story all together.
