1995 Willaims (reel not working correctly)

Hello all

I have a 1995 3 reel Williams slot and the main reel is not always working correctly.  It does not always line up with the what it pays out and also I notice it spins odd like it is sometimes struggling.  I'm wondering if maybe I just have a bad motor in that reel?  I would like to get it working correctly if anyone has any ideas.

The first thing to check is that there is nothing rubbing against the basket when it's spinning.  That would account for the appearance of struggling.  Is it a jerky motion or smooth? 
If nothing is rubbing against it, swap the entire reel mech with another position and see if the problem follows.  If it does, then it may be the motor. 
I had a motor before that was worn down in that it spun fine but when it stopped, it skipped to the next symbol on the reel instead of the one it's supposed to stop at.  Is that what's happening here?  Or are you getting just a completely wrong symbol?  Does the problem correct itself when you open and close the door (the reel realign properly)?

I took the reel out and then put it back in.  It seemed to be working great for about 50 or so spins and then it started acting up again.  It looks like the reel did move a bit so I re-aligned it.   But then it kept happening.  It's not off every time but when it is it if off by just a symbol.  When I open and close the door it will re-align to what it is supposed to be on.

Seems to be working great now.  Thanks for all the help.  I also slowed the speed down on the reels from medium to slow.  Makes it even better.
