Do you have the game cartridge for the MPU4?

Yes I do, but I don't know if its bad so I could use that too. Game plays but no top box sound. I have narrowed problem to MPU or cartridge.

There's a volume pot on that cartridge, and you have to change the volume in menu 58. Last is the bonus sound from a Barcrest only plays on the coin tray speaker.. So make sure the connection is made there and all the connections on the MPU4 are seated well.

I do have a spare MPU4 with a new battery installed and I know where a spare cartridge is that I just tested for a guy on my RFYM.

Once you remove that battery the board could possibly look a lot better when you clean that area. Maybe there are no board traces that are eaten away, just battery crap on top surface of the board. Worth a shot. After removing the battery clean the board where the battery leakage is by using some vinegar, then a little soapy water. Can use a toothbrush to scrub (preferably not your wife's or girlfriend's). Then use fresh water for final cleaning. Let dry thoroughly and examine board with magnifying glass for damage. If there are one or two damaged board traces they can be repaired with small bus wire soldered to the board.
