Model: Dig Dug
Symptom: Corrupt graphics

Background and text were OK. Sprites and title screen graphics were corrupt.

Looked board over and found the 2 motion SRAM chips (2148) were stuck in the board and not soldered into place. Installed sockets and inserted the RAMs. Sprites were mostly fixed, but still had some corruption as did the title screen. Removed solder smear short above the EPROMs and tested.

Symptom: Gun input 1 not working

Replaced shorted 74LS14 and tested.

Model: Missile Command
Symptom: Flashing screen

Board was stuck in watchdog

Clipped /WDOGDIS to ground and board booted. Replaced bad 74LS42 at E8 in the Address Decoding circuit. It was supposed to output pulses to the reset circuit to stop the watchdog from resetting the CPU, but the output was stuck. Tested.

Model: Missile Command
Symptom: garbage on screen. Missing parts

Board was missing all 6 Program ROMs and the 6502A CPU

Installed missing parts and checked RAM outputs. Started with the basics and found a missing signal on pin 6 of the 74LS244 CPU Bus Buffer at B/C1. Removed part to find upper pad missing. Installed a patch and socket then reinstalled chip and tested. Board booted but had red squares on the screen instead of the Missile Command logo. Attract mode screen was blue only and moving sprites left trails. Test mode was white blocks on a black screen. Found a missing signal on pin 5 of C5 in the Microprocessor Data Input Interface section. Removed the chip to find another missing top pad. Installed a patch and socket then reinstalled the chip and tested the PCB successfully.

Symptom: ROM 1 Error

ROM 1 checksummed OK on programmer. Freshly programmed ROM had same error. Pulled 08xx to CPU 3 and ROM / RAM tests passed, but system watchdog rebooted. Replaced dead CPU 3 and tested.

Symptom: Dead

Flipped test switch on PCB and test mode came up. Replaced dead 2804 NVRAM chip and tested.
