Need some advice - Bally 1113

I had a frustrating experience the other day and was looking for some advice.  I will preface this by saying I know very little about slot machines.

A few days ago I won a Bally Model 1113 slot machine in a liquidation auction.  All I knew about it was that it looked to be in good condition and when powered on displayed a tilt error.  I only paid $80 for it so I wasn’t too worried about it’s functionality.  I figured it would try to get it working and if nothing else it would be an interesting conversation piece.

Yesterday I went to pick it up and while loading it on a dolly the front panel/door flew open, hit the ground, and broke the red “Bally” glass on the lower section of the machine.   The employee failed to mention the lock had been removed so the front panel wasn’t latched close.  Obviously this bummed me out and my fun project suddenly became more complicated. 

So now I’m trying to decide if I still keep the machine or just return it for a refund.  Is there any chance I could even find that that same glass panel?  I honestly couldn’t even find a photo online of a machine with that same glass. I liked it because it said Bally as opposed to some of the more generic panels I’ve seen. Am I most likely going to have to replace it with something different?  And how much will it cost me?

Keep the machine! Unfortunately this happens often when you buy and transport your first slot. Doors aren't closed or have no lock, and suddenly you're got broken glass.
It would be nice if the auction company gave you some monetary compensation. Still $80 is a great price for that machine.
I'd suggest you post in our CLASSIFIEDS section, a WTB for that glass. You may not find the exact one, but one of our members may have something close. And, check the vendors on our home page at the top. Most have websites or you can just PM them here.
While you wait for that, the rest of our EM guys can help you with the tilt issue.

Thank you for the advice.  I will definitely keep the machine. I was just a bit dejected after being so exited to pick it up and then breaking the glass.  I’m pretty sure they will give me a discount on it as I’m one of their better customers and they were at least partly to blame for the incident. 


I’ll be sure to take advantage of these forums once it get it home and take a look at it closer.

Bummer, happen to me when the owner wanted to be helpful. Just a small fracture and a dent in the metal trim.
Glass shouldn’t be to hard to fine, might not be exactly the same as what you have.
I’ve seen glass on Craigslist for $35.00. It would be nice if the auction Co. paid for a replacement.


Have a similar machine with a nice belly glass.

Fun machine! I just rebuilt an 1113 Low Boy. Love the full mechanical sound of these wide body machines. Plus the coin drop chime takes me back to a late 70s arcade. Sorry to hear about the glass. I recently broke a top piece and it hurts, but it's bound to happen. Did that glass get shattered or just cracked? If it's just in a few pieces it is possible to scan it, correct the image with a photo program and then have it printed on new glass. Since there is no mirror silver in it, it will be much easier to reproduce.
