IGT coral reef slot machine with error 61

I am new here and have an IGT coral reef two coin slot machine I do not know if it is an S or S-plus ( it does have a bill validator). Can anyone tell me how to figure out if it is an S or S-plus? I had an error code 12 the last time that I turned it on. I looked up the code and replaced the battery. I now have an error code 61 and can not get it to clear. Opened the door press the test button for two seconds got the ding and the display changed to 61 - 1, shut the door and turned the jackpot key and the display went back to 61. Tried it three times and got the same 61 code. Any help is appreciated.

It is a S plus if it has a BV. Stuck in the 61 loop. Might have to use a clear chip. Other than that you can try removing the cmos chip for a few seconds, then replacing it. It might let you clear the 61 error.

It's an S+.  If RB's suggestions don't work, you'll need to purchase a RAM clear chip to get out of the "61 loop" that you're in.  You'll also want to purchase a DBV (Dollar Bill Validator) SET chip, which will allow you to reactivate your bill validator after the RAM clear procedure.  You can buy the pair of chips for $10 to $20 total from one of the vendors here on the site, or other places on the Internet.

I will try removing the cmos chip and see if that works. Does the BV need to be reactivated after I use a clear chip. We don't use it.

It doesn't have to be but it would be preferred by most users. If you don't set the denom & enable the BV then 1 coin/token equals 1 credit by default & the machine will still work.

Ok thanks for the info on the BV. I am going to remove the cmos chip here in a few hours. I will let you know the outcome.

Sorry, it took me so long to get back with y'all I could not find my chip puller and had to get a new one. I finally got one, I did not want to use anything to pry out the cmos chip, for fear of damage. I pulled the cmos chip this morning and let it sit out for about 3 seconds and reinstalled it and powered up the game. The game came on and gave me the same 61, pushed the test button and got 61 1, closed the door and turned the reset key and the 61 came back. Is there any thing else that I can try or am I going to have to get the clear and set chip.

Once again it's stuck in the 61 loop. If the CMOS trick didn't work you're going to need to clear it. You will in turn also need a set chip to reset the denom & enable the BV afterwards. I have clear & set chips if needed. PM me if interested.
