Just an observation on my part.
Let me understand.
A agree you probably don't want to go through a total clear just to reset the credits because you want to change the play back %.
Now for the logic check.
1 You want to change the machine to obtain better odds.
2 You need to clear 500 credits to be able to key the machine to change the %
3 If you have 500+ credits on the machine it sounds like the pay back % must be pretty good already.

Why not just wait until you burn off the credits on your "tight" machine then change the %.
You will find only a very small difference in game play by changing the %. Unless it is currently set at 78 or lower.
But with over 500 credits on the machine I doubt it.

I would wait until you run it out of credits and then change it.
Just my 2 cents

   Works for me Rich as I have no problem pulling the handle everytime I pass by the machine.   That between that and the GameKing in the back here.     So it's that lean then that much normall though as it might have quite a few pulls to get to that 500 (wouldn't want to have it out of my pocket in a casino at the reservation).

     Wow survived the swapping of the chips and getting the 45 installed (sans bent pins & noting proximity of notchs).   Fell short on the actual changes that I was seeking to accomplish.    Too slow with my lack of experience and the machine timed out and went into error mode...I couldn't get to the Table 2-3  Master Money Accounting Meters page & to the MTA 12 Base Payback % (trying to make my machine a litte more liberal with the pay outs).

What is your current payback %?  By default they will be at the highest (usually 98%).  Here's how you can check, no keychip etc required.

Press the MPU self test button
Press the cash credit button 6 times
Press Spin reels 2 times
Press cash credit 1 time
You should see 7.1.2 in the display along with game selection
Press Spin Reels 1 time

It should show you the payback percentage and game #.  If it says Game#1 it's already set at the highest (most liberal or loose) as it can be.  If says Game#2 or higher then you'll need to key the machine to change it.

To return to normal game play simply close the door.

     This is fabulous enllightenment.   I won't be able to get it tomorrow though cause I'm just about of gas right now....ready for nighty night.    I think that I saw about 89.xxx payout percentage something in my past.    I told the folks to set it up lean cause that's probably what I'm likely to expect at the Akwasasne Indian Casino up country from here (about 1/5 hours)

Ah OK.  Well if you asked them to set it "tight" then it may be lower than default.  Was just trying to save you all the hassle of keying etc if it's already set as high as it can be.

     Trying to find the "sticky" that covers the PayOut Percentage for my IGT S2000 Deluxe Haywire.  Can you help me going my way through the menu's to get to change in for something higher than the 89.99 % that it's on right now.   I have gotten through two pairs of swaps with the chips I believe sucessfully...no pins bent that I can see, notch in proximity and used a static strap.  I should be good to go if I just needed some guidance at this point.
