bally 6000 31 code

bally 6000 with dead battery. has a hopper, and a spot for a ticket printer, but no printer. new battery,  did a full clear, and it comes back with a 31 code. 11d , 61 is set to 0001.  tried again set to 0002, same code. set to 0003, and no code , takes coins and plays. bill validator good too . however,  on a win, if you try to cash out, you get the ticket printer sounds, but with no printer of course nothing happens. i tried all the above with both leave in mains, and clear only chips with original mains.  owner said it was working with the hopper till it died. any ideas??  ps- hopper pins not bent

I had a very similar problem with a 6000 that does not have a hopper. The code 31 says the coin out sensor timeout. I was able to short the pin to ground to clear that error. For your problem it sounds like the coin out sensor is not working, staying high all the time. Could be a wire problem or a bad sensor. If you still have the problem and need help I can post a pic of the pin I shorted to ground on the motherboard. On the motherboard - J16 HOPPER Pin 1 Yellow wire - stick a piece of wire (something like a lead off of a resistor or something) in there and connect it directly to ground (any metal will work nearby) if you want to see if the error goes away. If so then need to determine why the signal is not getting there.
