The blinking light means it is the wrong bv. If it is a wba 12/13 make sure it is a ido24. As for the printer make sure it's netplex.  That's for Igt. I hope that helps.

Interesting.  The wba 12/13 in this machine is an ido-003.  A vendor delivered this machine and 7 others to me about 20 months ago, but I wasn't able to test them at delivery due to the cold.  I have had recurring bill acceptance/printer problems with this machine ever since.   Can an IGT machine use an ido-003 validator as well or is this definitely the root of my problem?  Thanks!  Another great comment!

Put one of your other bvs from a working machine in that machine and see if it lights up.

If it is in fact ido 003 software then it would have to be flashed to ido 24 in order to work on an IGT machine. But the heads are interchangeable, and the software is stored in the transport, so the label on the head isn't always right. I would probably swap the whole bill acceptor first, then try swapping the heads to see witch part is bad. If the transport is the problem it probably just needs to be flashed.

Just to comment, when you pull out the bv, turn it upside down and toward the front of the transport, right under where the head sits, you will see a PCB.  Sometimes, they put the program ID on the flash chip or eprom, but not all the time.  If you have an eprom, swap it with an known ido 24 eprom, if you have flash, you need to find somebody with the flash tools to re-program the bv.  But do what others have recommended, which is take the bv from a working machine and try it with this one to make sure it's a bv issue.

The good news is that the bill validator is not the problem as I was able to swap it with another machine and had the same results.  It seems my problem is that the printer won't grab the inserted ticket and hang on to it.  There's no resistance.  Its like its dead even though all the surrounding lights are lit up.  I would still like to repair the printer, but at least I can play the machine by disabling the printer.  Thanks.
