IGT S2K Acid-Eaten Traces

It just started kids...the dreaded [Open Door B] errors.
Now it's just gone completely bonkers... :duh:


Can't play any games with her anymore....Had her for awhile now   

She was my 1st S2000 I bought and stuffed into the trunk of my Subaru... :bawling:

This ol' 502 I own, made by I'm sure, a nice little Chinese lady in 1997 (I wonder where she is now? I hope she's doing well! haha ) , is dying because the pre-existing Varta battery finally ate thru the traces....Lasted 24 years!

Only problem is...which trace got eaten thru?  :scratch-head_2:


I started taking some stuff off, so I can see underneath.

Top Amber LED light on the MPU is going Haywire!... lol

Sometimes the Amber LED below it briefly flashes on as well....going nuts.

I’d love to find out too. I’ve got a bunch of damaged MPUs I’m about to go through with various stages of acid damage. I wonder if there are more likely / common traces that get damage and that can be looked at first.

HAS to be common problem....EVERYONE I know has seen this happen with the old 502's.
I removed that Varta as soon as I got the board but it was too late.
Only lasted about 13 years for me.

Below is the date of manufacturing by that lil' old lady....haha

She was awesome! :yes:

It WASN'T her fault they made lousy drawings for the sound traces!!
