changing reel chip

I have a single line Haywire that I want to change to a 95% chip (ss4079). I have the chip and want t know after changing the chip do I just boot up do the 61, 61 1, close door and  reset key and it works or do I need to program the game? Also do I need to clear credits before hand. A no bv machine. Thanks in advance.

It's best to cash out. You right about 61 to 61-1 and turn key. You won't even lose your settings

I put it in didn't clear credits and didn't even have to reset the machine. Works perfect. Checked the test switch says there is a ss4079 chip installed. Working great, Thank you.

OK update from that.  I had bumped the volume wheel (10 mghz board) while replacing the chip but everything worked great. Until she asked me to turn down the volume. I opened the door and turned the control, shut the door and got a 67 error. Couldn't clear it finally shut the machine off and re booted. Came up 61. Pressed the test button and when it dinged got a 61-1. Closed the door hit the reset, lost all of my credits but it booted up perfectly.  Cool result. It is now working perfectly, I have to dig some 25¢ out to get my credits back but is working great. Thanks again. Learning all the time.
