To Clear or not to Clear????

So, over the last few months, we've seen this forum evolve, wether for better or for worse, it is what it is and were only here to make the best of it, so, for anything it's worth...one thing that has seemed to have been muddled is recommending WHEN to clear an S+ and WHEN to clear an S2000. With the 2 models being widely variant, there are multiple elements to consider.

- Clear an S+, Personalize a setting or two, and your good to go! (might not even need to be personalized at all).
- Clear an S2000?!?! Your machine's DEAD in the water until you set the options the way the manufacturer/machine wants you to or it will NOT function!

We have guys posting on S+ and S2000 forums saying "Don't clear your machine! I only use it as a last resort!"  I call BS!!!

Now, I know telling a newbie to Clear his S2000 may not be the first thought, but come on, there IS a difference between telling someone to Clear an S+ and telling someone to Clear an S2000!?!?!

I just wanted to know what the rest of you thought, as I, personally, think this is bullshit,,,,

I've probably cleared my S2000 100 times in the last 2+ years.  Runs like a top.

Because you KNOW what settings to SET and what settings to leave ALONE at this point! There was a day, when Yoeddy posted for the first time right? Did you know what to set and what to pass by?


A newbie, maybe not the case...huh??


I'm just saying we are mixing our signals here. If we are supposed to be "the place" to go for home slot owners, what advice are we really giving???

I think you have it correct. Newbie with an S2000 not recommended.
Clear on a S2000 is not like clearing a S+ or a Bally 5000. The latter two pretty much will function after a clear.
A S2000 like you said will be dead dead dead. If the person happens to be unlucky enough to have SG362s you will be setting up SAS also ( I bet a bunch of seniors have not even had to do that or what I'm even talking about)

I will say on this site the answers will vary as much as which clear chip to use.(where's Buzz he should chime in)
