IGT S2000 - Key chip and Clear chip confusion

When I bought my first slot machine (IGT S2000) Double Red White Blue, I purchased from the dealer, a 17 and 97 key & clear chips which he said would work on any IGT S2000 machine. When I purchased my 2nd machine (Triple Diamond (IGT S2000)) I saw on the Bettor TITO website, the 45 and 224 key & clear chips which also said it would work on IGT S2000 just in case if the 17 and 97 didn't work. My dealer said the 17 and 97 would work and said the 45 chip was for the IGT S2000 "enhanced" boards.

So my question is: Will the 45 key chip and 224 clear chip work the same as the 17 and 97 chips?

224 and 45 will do any S2000 except those with "R" boards. The 97 and 17 works for 50X mpus but if you have the 224, 45 combo is a more versatile choice.

Just to clarify, what is an "R" board?

A flashed daughter board for S2000 enhanced. It uses only a base chip and boot chip.

I now have 97/17 and 224/45 clear/key chips and both work the same on my IGT S2000 slot machines.
