Power Supply Issue G23 - Need Some Advice

Hi all,
My IGT G23 machine is switching off after about an hour of use. After this I cant turn it on for atleast a good hour and when it starts up again it will last about 30 to 60 mins and switch off again.

I live in Australia and its hard to source any stock here as everything is sold in America. Can anyone offer advice with what I can do to test what the issue is. Dont want to fork out money for something (and high postage) for it not to be the issue. I have pulled out two power blocks but not sure if i check anything to see where the problem lays. Attached a photo link of the two power blocks - but not sure what I can do???

Open up the bigger one and look at the caps, I guarantee you have several caps that are bulging and need to be replaced.  It is a common issue with these aging power supplies.  I've already fixed both of my machines that had intermittent power issues.

Thanks Rick for replying - hopefully thats the issue. The two G23 I have both have the same issue. Do i need to remove these side screws to open it up? What is the best screwdrive to use as I cant open them

Also do you have a link to the replacement caps as will order them asap then. THanks again! Will go to the hardware store tomorrow to try for the screwdriver too. Thanks!

Thanks again Rick - youtubed the process and definitely beyond my ability. Emailed a few specialists who told me to repair would be between $300 to $500 Australian Dollars (4 times the cost of them new). Will look into getting two more. Thanks though for your help

Removing and replacing caps is not really all that difficult, it is only about $20 worth of caps to fix your power supply and then you have a spare.  Soldering is a skill you should learn as it is quite handy for this hobby.

I echo what Rick said.  If you get the right tools for the job, it really is an easy thing to do.  Desoldering was what I hated doing more than anything.  Desoldering wick, pumps, etc…I couldn’t use those tools to save my life.  But once I discovered the Hakko FR-301 desoldering gun, I’ll take on almost any soldering project.  Soldering takes practice, but if you get a good soldering iron like a Hakko FX888D, the experience will be much better.  Hakko makes great products, and there are other great companies out there, but like I said, the right tools will change your outlook on soldering.
