S2000 Netplex link is down / no disp

hello everyone, just looking for a second opinion..  Picked up an s2000 with a netplex link is down error. On the right, it says no display. cant clear it with chips because it wont go past the netplex error. My first thought was to disconnect all the netplex devices, but instead i took the MPU out, took the game and base chips and put it into a known working board.  Machine works perfect now. Took the Netplex error board, and put it into a different machine, and got the same error. Am i looking at a bad board? I dont have a picture of the board, but its a Super Stepper Controller 7551050.

Sounds like the MPU is bad. Is there a lot of corrosion on it?

That's what I thought..bad board.. but it's actually clean. No corrosion at all
