Error 42 000 on an E2000 3 reel error

I'm not sure if I worded this correctly, but I have a new to me Bally E2000 3 reel slot that is giving me a error of 42 000, also the machine is tilting. From what I have read, the 2nd reel is not position right  and the 3nd reel just spins without the coil stopping the reel. Kinda weird, because the 1st reel was a problem at first because it would never lock in. Cleaning the old grease freed up everything.

I am new to working on these machine, but I do have a background repairing early 80's pinball machines with some of the basic tools to for boards
repairs.

Would anyone care to explain how I can get the reels lined up?

An error code of 42 000 is a code that indicates a bad reel reader board on the 2nd reel, try swapping the reel reader
from the 3rd reel to the 2nd and see if the code changes to 43 000, if so then the reel reader is bad.

Your E2000 machine may have 50 volt or 5 volt readers, the 5 volt version normally has a lable indicating
5 volt operation, the 50 volt version has light bulbs.

Think you for the suggestion. While the forum was down today I messed around with the reels. I found some old gunked up pivots locations. Cleaning this up solved the problem.

My reel reader died, so it must have been on its way out. I got parts on order to repair.  Thank you dhellis for your insight. You were correct.
