Printer protocol

If you check my post history I've been dealing with a malfunctioning printer in my BB2 ever since I got the machine. It wasn't working for me, nor the previous owner. I'm really set on fixing it, and rather than buy a new backplane/cpu I want to try to be smarter about diagnostics.


I bought a logic analyzer and I was thinking of connecting to the data lines on the printer and trying to decode the wire protocol. If I see some corrupted bits or nothing at all, then I know it's upstream. I figure I could then attach to some pins on the edgecard connector between the backplane and CPU to narrow it down further.


What protocol does WMS use? Is it regular rs232?
