Amazing how cheap these are now. 
I have not one, not two, not three but 4 multimeters. Two are fairly high end... maybe "mid" high end! The third is the pen-style and I'm using it most of the time since it's so convenient with the auto setting. The forth one is my father's small Micronta meter, straight out of 1986. Still works fine and has an original battery.

I have 5 multimeters.
One is my 1983 analog meter.
I then had an industrial grade digital meter with a broken foot that I love. An old Electrican friend gifted it to me after seeing me use the analog one. He relied on that foot to hold it in place while he was working and had replaced his.

My step son was visiting last summer for a
couple of weeks and was rewiring his motor bike lighting system and used my digital meter along with my soldering iron and such. Later on that summer my trailer brake lights were not functioning as we were trying to get out the door camping. I went to look for my meter and could not find either of them.

I ended up using a buzzer from some old toy to validate voltages and found the broken lead. I ordered two more digital meters from Amazon before I was even out of the driveway. Total was under $30 bucks Canadian.

My 5th meter is an analog one out of the 60’s and I am looking for a new battery for it.
It uses a  C8501 22v battery. It is the size of a 9v and has the same type of connectors, but one on each end. They were last made by Toshiba. It’s huge and beautiful and with a battery it has amazing resistance sensitivity which is probably out classed by any $15 digital meter but I love it.

A neighbor gave me a spare Fluke. A very generous gift I will never forget.
A year later I found one for $10 in a thrift store….they clearly didn’t know what they had.
I keep one in the car now.

I upgraded my failing Radio Shack multimeter to a Fluke about 30 years ago. I don't expect to ever need another.

I've had a Simpson 260 since I was a young kid.  It's a classic old workhorse that still performs well today.  I have several handheld and pocket DMM's.  The flukes are my favorite with the digital meters by far.  My Beckman Industrial DM78 is my favorite pocket DMM.
