BB2 to BB3 Conversion in Pictures

I thought this might help someone trying to convert a BB2 to a BB3.  You need monitor emulators to adjust screen size with Game Chest software

With those EDID emulators you listed, the they fill the BB2 screen or leave a border? The one I have has a border. Didn't know if there was onme that would fill screen or not.

It depends on the type of video card in the cpu.  The 4690 video card gives you a border and a 6760 will give a full screen.  My cpu is a 4690 and I get the border.

The emotive light always stays blue and doesn't change color for the Illinois game chests ( one with Johnny Cash and Elvis)  The HD14 game chest does not need the setup from bb2 to bb3. The emotive light works with this game chest. Is the Illinois not compatible with the emotive lighting on the bb2
e to bb3 conversion?

@tjlee

Great diagram!  I did the mod, but it was a bit trickier without the correct mini-fit jr plug & pins for J14.

The jumpers I had to link were slightly different than this as I needed it to report the cabinet type as a Gamefield xD and not a Blade system.  By referencing a few older posts on what jumpers = what cabinet type, and some trial & error as there wasn't an exact jumper config listed anywhere like this to set a Gamefield xD cabinet type.  I did finally get it.

The mod on J10 is fairly easy since a plug is present so you can just disconnect the wire between 10 and 12, and jumper pin 9 to 11.

But on J14, there's no existing plug present, and the pins inside the plug slide over the pins in the BB2 board connector.  Unfortunately those pins inside the board connector can have a few different sizes.  I had to guess on the pin connector size, and the ones I got were just slightly larger.

But being just a little larger, I was able to crimp them slightly so they would grip onto the pins in the board socket pins for J14 without being too loose.  Once I had pins that would grab & hold onto the pins on J14.  I just made my own wire jumpers with the plug pin connectors for each one to be able to jumper them in the board socket pins without having the plug.  A bit hacky, but it worked.

Do you know the part number and pin size for the plug that matches J14 on the BB2 board?

As this one for the 18 pin mini-fit jr plug is listed as 3mm.
https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/molex/0430251810/12142544

But there is another 18 pin mini-fit jr plug below that is listed as 4.2mm
https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/molex/0469921810/5116015

If you (or anyone for that matter).  Knows the exact part numbers or exact specs for the plug and pins for J14, that would be great!

Thanks!
