New to me 1090-1 questions (came from ceasers palace)
« on: April 09, 2026, 05:57:06 am »
A couple weeks ago I made a road trip and picked up a 1090-1. Have most of the bugs worked out it  (needs a little more cleaning and adjusting with the 2nd reel stopping just a little too quick). But here are a few questions for the real veterans on here. So based on the belly glass and wiring on the inside, it came from ceasers palace. This machine doesn't have a bell or a chime (guessing it was optional) but there are 2 holes on the top where some sort of topper/marquee was.  There is a clipped off set of 4 wires coming from a ballast in the upper unit. Anyone remember seeing one if these in the wild or have a picture of it? If I can find one i might put it on there, if I decide to keep this one.  Thanks!

1090-1 was a generic bally 25c machine and it had a "jackpot tower light" (aka candle), so there should be a hole more-or-less centered on the top of the cabinet for wires to go thru.

looks like you have an IGT sticker on there.  IGT initially did refurbs.  Is your machine still entirely EM?

the bell normally is in the upper compartment.  Look for the blue (20) and red (10-2) wires in the harness going into the top - usually with plugs on the wires.  One plug for the bell, one for the candle.

the ballast/starter for the door lights was on a bracket to the left of the reels.

when the machine was modified - maybe for ceasars, maybe not - anything could be added.  Whatever the customer wanted.  If an added topper needed a fluorescent, the ballast and starter would be mounted in the top compartment.

This one is still a EM. It does not have the hole in the center for a candle,  but 2 holes towards the front where a sign or marquee would go. The ballast i was talking about is in the upper unit,  almost attached to the ballast for the upper unit light. At the end of the day it's not a huge deal but I just like to get the ones I'm keeping as "authentic" as I can.  I'll see if I have any decent pics of the top.
