I Game Trouble
« on: May 13, 2026, 01:46:23 pm »
Hi
I am trying to get a machine running that I have never seen run before. Every time I turn it on, yellow lights on cpu flash, fan starts, then everything shuts off in about a second. I have been trying to find the problem with no luck. This is a 3902 game. I switched out the mother board, same thing. So now I tried turning it on with plug by plug disconnected. Printer, bill accepter, and when I unplugged the J8 Cab Senet, the power stayed on. Only the second yellow lite on cpu stays off. I cleared the machine, put in the game chip and now get confetti screen. I have something going on with the cab senet, what does this plug work and what should I be looking for to find the problem?
                                                          Thanks Dan

Did you swap out the power supply? That's my first guess. The confetti screen could be software. Check the pins on the base chip you replaced to key the machine.

I swapped out both power supplys, I'd like to know why I can't plug the cab senet plug back in without it shutting everything down. I'll worry about getting the game up later, I'll try another game software if I have to.

Did you try a new cabinet I/O card? That is where that cab senet cable goes to. (It's card one with the short connector).  The devices controlled by it are the hopper, pull handle solenoid and switch, and the mechanical counters.
Try removing the cabinet I/O card and leaving J8 connected to see if there is a pinched wire or something. Sounds like a direct short somewhere.

I removed the IO card plugged j8 back in and machine stayed running. The IO card i'm using is good as I tested it in another machine. This is a I Game, no pull handle, no hopper. Guess I'll cut some wire ties and trace the wires to try and find a short. Thanks Lookes

Hey Dirtguy....you're not pulling or putting the i/o cards, while the power switch is ON right?
Those blow easily if the power is ON.
