Cabinet Refinish
« on: June 11, 2023, 08:15:46 am »
I’m trying to replace my S+ plus laminate. There’s so many cracks and pieces missing that I was able to use a clothes steamer to remove the entire piece quickly and easily in 1 piece (each side).  It’s a chop top, so no need to bend a product as it’s not a round top.  All straight lines.

With all the new laminates, wood veneers available these days  in peel and stick products, any suggestions besides a  laminate sheet  that might work and would be easier to cut and thin enough to flush mount? Thanks

I have a GREAT idea, if I do say so myself.
Why not try the automotive vinyl wrap? I've read it adheres to wood surfaces as well.
There's a jillion colors/styles to choose from.
If you do this, I want credit!  :rotfl:

I know it’s been 3+ years since this was posted, but I had some chipping on the side of my cabinet. Search for a solution found this thread. Tried out the car wrap vinyl, picked a white semi gloss similar to my cabinets outer color, applied it and looks a heck of a lot better than it did before. The pictures don’t do it justice, and if I wanted to remove the entire exterior white shell and measure it up properly it would look great.

Do you think you'll eventually do the entire cabinet ... or ... is that "a wrap?"  :rotfl:
(Sorry couldn't resist a bad joke)  :Tongue_Out:

I could try to rip off the entire original side facade, but I’m sure my wife would come downstairs, see what I was doing, and tell me to make like a tree and “get out of here.” :24:
