WTB: IGT S+ Parts

Looking to buy IGT S+ parts as I just got a machine with a battery that corroded -
CPU/MPU, Motherboard, Clear and Set Chip

CPUs, set and clear chips are available but motherboards are a lot harder to find.

Are you looking for a cpu and a mother board?
The mother board (back plane) sits under the cpu or mpu whichever you prefer.

I was looking for both the MPU/CPU and the motherboard. (corrected the original message) - here is a picture of the damage and thought this is probably beyond repair but haven't tried to repair. Has anyone had luck repairing a board with this type of damage? Thanks

cpu is thrashed - i would inspect your mother board - as the acid probably ate the 4 transistors on that board as well..

Don't suppose you have another S+ to try the MPU in? I would take that board out behind the barn and put it out of it's misery. I had a board about that bad, and it didn't hurt the motherboard at all. May not be the case here though. Pull that motherboard out and look for acid damage. It might not be as bad as you think.

The motherboard has acid damage as well.  Unfortunately, this is the only S+ I have and I just picked it up cheap but it was locked so I didn't see the damage before getting it home.

I understand. CVslots has mpus and you can check for motherboards too. They're not as easy to find. Lots of vendors on here. Cross your fingers. The chips are easy to pick up. Good luck with that backplane (motherboard).

Sometimes it can look worse than it really is. You've got nothing to lose, try brushing the bad area with vinegar and a bristle brush (not a wire brush). Rinse with clean water, then scrub again with fresh water that has a little liquid soap in it. Then do a final rinse with fresh water and see if any board traces are bad. It might just be surface stuff you are seeing. Dry completely, overnight, before installing back into the machine and applying power.

Like they say in the Emergency Room, it always looks worse before it is cleaned.  :garfield:
