got a s 2000 that worked a month ago   now we get  b /m door  open  its 502 board that in  like new shape pulled green  battery  replace  round ,  , did by pass of optics   jumped belly and cash box doors  , when we put in  test  m door  shows a  0 if we  unplug   the 2 wire plug from front  door near 1 st  reel  it  changes back to a 1 and then back to  0

went down to shop and looked at this slot some more this am  if I break the purple and green wires apart on  bypass  door works ok bad I/o board?

Not shore if the I/O has anything to do with it. I do know that when I bypass the optics, I only use the red and the green wires. When you bypass that way, it also bypasses the belly door switch. I actually use the small harness for the belly door switch as a ready made connector for the green wire to the cherry switch.

next time i'll try just the 2 wires    we bypass the  belly and cash can door the less the retail buyer  has to  do the better , hate getting calls about door being open

I am a big fan of the door optics bypass. By using the harness off the belly door switch, I can do the bypass with just one quick connect. It also allows to make the door easier to open on some machines, without having to worry about optics alignment.  I also like to put battery holders on 500 series boards, the more user friendly the better.

we use battery  holder in all 500 boards we buy them 100 at a time they are dirt cheap , i'll have to find your pic of the 2 wire bypass only one we have is the 3 wire

It's pretty simple red wire that goes to optic on the door to green wire that goes to optic on the cabinet.

[Retro tech repair]

Here is a pic of what i have done in the past. Basically the same thing as the 2 wire method but no need to cut any harnes.
