SB prom CRC / Checksum questions

Curious if any one knows details of how the CRC / checksum is calculated or if anyone is able to reproduce the checksum value using HxD for instance by creating a custom CRC?  I've tried several different methods to achieve the same CRC stored in the prom and reported by the machine, but as of yet have not been able to achieve a match.

Any insights are greatly appreciated.

Answered my own question.  Very involved process; not something HxD is going to do.
