SAVP to SMLD - Whats all needed?

Curious what is all needed to go from stepper to video on an SAVP. I have a couple SAVP 3.0's sitting and may covert one.

You'll need an "e4690" (dual DVI Video card) in the Brain Box, DVI to VGA Video Cable(s) and a 20" MLD monitor. Depending on which lower Door you have, the monitor may drop right in, or you'll have to get the Dremel out and "modify" the lower door opening a bit. You do NOT need Dynamic buttons, but they ARE nice to have.  ;-)  Oh, and bump up the RAM to 4GB - it loads faster and alot of games will no longer "lag" during play.


When searching out a video card, be sure you get the "PCI Express" type and NOT the "AGP socket" type.  AGPs go in 2.5 boxes, I believe.

No bezel, but now that I think of it, the conversion kits came with new doors.


Might be a Pandoras box you're opening. But anything is possible with enough time, skill and parts.


Oh, and the video card is not "manditory", but you'll want one if you'll be running multiple dongles.

Matt,  If you can you are much better locating a factory mld door.  There are two types for the s-mld 20 upright. One for the 3-fan monitor and one for the 4-fan monitor.  Here is a few pics of factory 3-fan monitor doors-one with monitor and one without to give you a better idea.
