Bally 6000 - No display on readouts

I am waiting for my ez clear chips to arrive so I went ahead and changed the mpu battery.  The one in it was dead, completely. 


When the machine is powered on, there is nothing on the readouts.  I would think whether or not a board is in or if the u43&u28 chips are not installed I would still get some kind of error.


I have checked the power supply and it is good per the voltages printed next to the "check areas" of the backplane board.  Also, non of the breaker/fuses are bad/popped. 


So my question is, should I be getting an error on the displays without the mpu installed or with mpu installed and no u43&u28 chips.  I would hate to waste a set of ez clears if there is other issues.

So just to help out future people with this issue, with no ram chips in the board(U-43 and U-28) you get no display on the readouts.  So no error codes, nothing.  Used EZ clear chips and was successful.
