IGT S2000 Green battery on the board

Hello. I have a question about this Green Varta battery on the MPU board. Will machine works whitout this Green battery on the board?

What MPU do you have?
500 series boards you can ( and should) just remove the green battery.
Enhanced boards should also have the green battery removed but the U16 voltage regulator chip must also be removed.

If you are unsure of your MPU type post a picture here.
Either way the green battery should be removed.

Many of these boards get destroyed by leaking green Varta battery's. I must have 10–20 here my self.

U16 is ONLY removed if it's a 1270 enhanced board. On the 500 series ONLY remove the green battery. Click on the link in post #1...

The Green VARTA battery--If You removed it--The positive Side Has Two Pins.


You Have Jump The Together--If Battery Is Removed

WHAT... No you don't..  :no: :duh:  👎   I've never done this.  You can do it if you want, but it doesn't affect the boards operation.

There was rumor on the old site if your SG chips were in the 1XX range IE SG000123 that this connection MAY be required, but since most everyone is using 363s or 5xxs it has never been an issue.

I have checked the board nr and it's a 1270. So then i have to remove the green Varta battery and cut of the U16 3 legs on the board? After i do that the board will work propertly? No issue when i turn the machine on/off?

Yes you can also just carefully snap U16 off after you cut the 3 legs.
Should work just fine without them.

Takes a good amount of heat(watts) for the battery removal. 
You can also carefully just move it back and forth till it just snaps off.
