Bally 5000 plus help. Error 31 payout jam.

I recently purchased this machine. It wasn’t working. I have repaired the coin comparator, and the door switch. I am now getting error 31. Payout Jam. It works, in forward and reverse, when I use the buttons. Any thoughts on what to start checking? Thanks.

You might want to try cleaning the coin optics on the hopper. They could be dirty, or bad.

I also have a v5000 poker machine. It has the same hopper. [size=78%]The only difference is it has a micro switch instead of the electronic eye. I’ve tried that one with the same results. Should that one work? I’ve tried test #4. It should payout 10 coins. Both of them spit coins out, but neither of them count them. Could it be something other than the hopper itself?[/size]

Does the v5000 hopper work in its game? If yes, then I would think it’s a board problem.

I got both machines together. Neither in working order. I believe the v5000 needs a screen. It will be the next project. So, I don’t know if it works in it’s game. Since I get the same result with both hoppers, I’m gonna assume, for now, the problem is a board problem. Any ideas on what to start checking. Is there a repair/troubleshooting manual available, or anything like that? If the battery voltage were low, would that have any effect? It’s at 3.1v.

Thanks for the help. I found the culprit. Where the hopper plugs into a small board attached to the main board, there’s another connector that Goya from the small board to the main. Whoever messed with it previously, plugged that connector in one pin off. I unplugged it and put it in correctly, and everything is working properly. I just gotta figure out how to make it work on credit play. I’m sure these a post, on here , about that. Then I’m gonna start messing with the v5000. Thanks again.
