Bill Acceptor not responding S2000

i picked up an S2000 with an enhanced MPU from a private party. It has a MEI Cashflow SC bill acceptor. The bill acceptor is not responding. All three LEDs are lit up solid, and the blue light on the bezel is flashing rapidly. I have done a clear and key and the bill acceptor is enabled. I have ran the Auto Configure a few times and i5 sees the printer but the validator does not show up. Tried removing the bill box and cleaning the edge connector on the interface board. Am I missing something? Thanks

It’s possible that the interface board in the MEI is bad or needs to be flashed again. I had a few MEI acceptors a few year back and I had a couple bad boards, but I don’t remember what the LED lights were doing on mine. Hopefully someone with a little more experience with the MEI chimes in.

I was just playing with it again and it cycled for the first time but still not taking bills.  I may have the key chip menu wrong I am thinking.

After posting the message I went out and the bill acceptor was working fine. I ran a handfuls of bills through and everything credited properly. I then hit the CASH OUT button to try and print a ticket and it went into COIN JAM CALL ATTENDANT. I did a clear and key to get rid of the coin jam error now it says BILL ACCEPTOR NOT RESPONDING when I boot it back up. Any ideas?

Have you tried a  "Auto Config" in menu 4?

Yes, I ran the Auto Config several times. It shows the printer but not the validator.

When you see the printer on the display , toggle with the bet one or change button to get to the bill acceptor status on the display. Those MEI's are a pain. There is lenses on the top of the cash box that need to be clean and the same kind of lenses on the bottom of the head. Make sure the power is off when removing the head or it will be toast. Open the head and clean the lenses. Use only water and a clean soft cloth.

Thanks. I will give it a try.  Since it worked for a few minutes I suspect I have the settings wrong somewhere.

the unit should cycle and be ready for use, even if it isn't enabled,  the green light should  blink about every two seconds. three lights on is not normal,  I think your problem is the actual connection to the circuit board via the interconnect of the head.  remove the circuit board from the assembly, ( pull it out from its connector)  now remove the the two screws and examine the fingers that make contact with the boards edge fingers, I'm sure you will find some that are out of alignment compared to the others, gently reshape them so they will lay up against the edge fingers, ( this causes intermittent operation of the unit, thus your on/off situation.  re install the two screws and re install.
