The error codes show it as Excessive extra coins in. And to open and close door. Is that not correct?

Yep...You nailed it Shaggy!
However, opening & closing the door did NOT clear the [23] error.

What causes THAT error code to happen?  :sherlock:

I've never had it come up.  The weird one I had one time was a regular old 12. I'd changed the battery, went through the 61 etc. and it came up to play, but the 12 came back. I checked everything, board, battery, solder. I finally pushed the test button and advanced it through the menu and when it got to the end, the 12 never came back. It's been about 2 years now and the machine is fine.   :Scratch-Head:
Well I certainly don't know how you did it.   :hail:

It turned out to be a resistor  :burningresistor: on the MPU going out of specs.
After I swapped it out for a new one, the MPU began receiving coin comparitor data inputs correctly.

okay, back to the subject comedians!   :fryingpan:  :24:

I first swapped out the SS & SP chips to another MPU with no codes.
Therefore the problem remained on the old MPU board.

I looked at the old MPU  :sherlock: and found an overheated resistor at (R18)
I unsoldered it out of there and replaced it with a newer one - along with the original SS &SP chips.
Threw it all back in the S+ cabinet and re-booted it up.

The [23] error code has not come back yet.  :Jump:

Looking at the schematics, that (R18) resistor goes out to the coin in on the mechanical counters...
I found that weird and do not understand how it would have thrown out the [23] code...  :scratch-head_2:
but oh well...it's working and that's all I wanted...haha

When you insert a coin on a s plus, doesn't the mechanical counter advance?
