Vision Monitor

Got a few vision monitors and decided to test them. First 2 were good. Third one turned it on and pop. Smoke bellowed out of monitor. No big deal right? Put in the next monitor and had no vfd display. Even said no disp. The monitor blew my door in/out card. You learn something new all the time. Definitely a scary moment. You think you have seen everything on a Vision machine then WAM. Funny thing is when I took the monitor apart, I could not find anything burnt. Had the smell.

I've burned out more than my share of electronics in my lifetime! haha

I did a lot of experimenting on the Vision platform years ago.
I was able to hook up a keyboard and a mouse to the LCD monitor's computer.
This allowed me to get more into the LCD's computer and see how it was set up.
My computer knowledge didn't allow me to do much with it tho, other than get into it and see what it held - much less change anything other than simple sound bytes that ran during certain events.

What I had never tried was seeing if I could get the software to work on a different computer.
The Vision computers were fairly outdated ( I think it was like Windows 3.1?) however sufficient enough to run simple graphics & animations.
I wish I could sort of upgrade this so I could change or upgrade the graphics & animations.
But when you think about it, I could just sell it all and switch to a more modern platform altogether.
I just like tinkering with this older stuff though - that's what makes it kinda fun.
