New to slots, but have many arcade games.


I have what I THINK is  BB1 running a Star Trek game with no TITO or printer. I don't believe it has a hard drive as I can't save progress on unlocked progress in the game.


QUESTIONS:


1. Can I install a hard drive to save progress?


2. Can I install a TITO to add credits? It's a pain in the ass to keep adding bills and taking them out for home use.


3. Can I upgrade this to a BB2? Or even a 3?


Any other feedback I can't think of would be appreciated.

1.  You cannot save progress on this game.  Originally it was connected to a WMS server that would save progress so you could feed a ticket to another machine at another location to restore your progress.  The only way to keep your progress at home is to make sure you never run out of credits or cash out.

2.  You can install a printer and a TITO board (like bettor TITO) and the machine will print and accept the tickets you print.  Your tickets can be re-used until they fade out and the validator can no longer read them.

3.  You already have a BB2 mpu, it is required to run star trek.  It should have a DVI video port to run the bottom monitor and a vga type port to run the top monitor.  Yes you can run BB3 on it, but you will need an additional power supply to run the bb3 mpu's aux power required.  Some of our members have used a spare 5/12v bb1 power supply to do that.  You will also need to change your monitors to widescreen format.

I searched NLG and read that Star Trek is one game that will play on a BB1 dual screen cabinet? Is there any truth to that?

Star Trek requires a standard button panel, will not work with OLED buttons? If true he might have a stock BB1 dual screen cabinet?

Start trek runs in what is known as a bb1.5.  It was a BB1 cabinet with a cpunxt2 mpu.  And yes, the game does not work with OLED button panel, it uses the standard button panel.

Doesn't say it works on a bb1 mpu, a poster said he didn't know it worked with a bb1 mpu, but no one else on the thread says it does.  It definitely requires a bb2 mpu, 100% certain it does not work on a bb1 mpu.

I see I need to read better, idesign said:

This was not a BB2 game, it was released on a BB1 machine before OLED decks were available.  So it does not support it.  (OLED) Plays using the BB2 CPU as a fluke, like a few other games that were on the same BB1 platform.

Then a few posts later updated his reply with:

Actually, it did not run a stock BB1, see attached pic.  Notice the top box which had external connection support to make it work.

So this was done through SAS? A ticket?  Not a community server or through player tracking (card)?   Ticket...  Interesting.......

Not sure it was through sas or not, my guess since it was a wms WAP server that it was something else and not SAS.  You would have to go through a sequence when cashing out that it would tell you to create a login id the first time you played the game and you wanted to save progress, then it would print a bar coded ticket with your username on it (wish I would have saved mine for archival purposes).  Similarly there would be another procedure to insert the ticket, you couldn't just walk up to the machine and put the ticket in.  I believe you had to put credits on the machine first, and then hit the login button or something for the ticket to work.  The ticket would work across casinos, though I only tested within Las Vegas as we had no local casinos back in the day.
