S2000 coin path?

Folks,
I've got a newbie question (actually more than one as I am putting each in its own thread)


What causes some coins to not go into the hopper but into that chute just below the hopper (and slightly to the right)?


I am noticing a large number of coins filling up that chute and wondering what I can do to stop that.

When the hopper is full, the coins go into the coin-drop.  Typically in casinos there was a bag attached under that chute that would collect the "overflow" coins.  Sometimes also a bad diverter on your coin-in section will cause that to happen.

On the old Bally's the first coins played always went there. After first game they went to hopper. Never had any IGT do it. Stuff a sandwich bag in it and dump it now and then.

Disconnect the connector going to the diverter and this will not happen. Just don't allow the hopper to overflow.

I just came here to post about doing this.
As I was looking around behind the belly glass, I noticed that the coil plunger for the diverter was hot to the touch and the coil for that diverter was on. (I assumed that it should be off and figured it being on is what caused the heat). I thought that maybe that coil was locked. So I unplugged it and the diverter fell back into the position I want. (To go into the hopper)
