Seeburg Williams 3-Liner

Hi all.  I've been sitting on this old EM Seeburg Williams slot machine for the better part of a decade.  Working on it, kind of getting it to work, failing, looking online for schematics or manuals, finding nothing, getting frustrated and giving up repeatedly.  I've got the "seeburg manual book 2" that always seems to pop up, but that really just describes what components are. 

At the moment it accepts three out of three coins, lights two of the paylines unless you trip the coin switch manually a fourth time, plays, but doesn't pay out.  It has in the past, and sometimes works perfectly out of the blue, then stops again, or pays out randomly, or dumps the whole hopper.  I've gone through and cleaned up contacts, freed up stepper reels and anything I can do to get it operating smoothly. Without an accurate schematic I'm mostly at a loss as to what to look at.  Somebody's clearly modified it at some point, there's cut and taped wires where the candle would be wired in, and I've resoldered some broken wires back on to step up reels where it looks like it should have gone

The closest thing I've been able to find is a schematic for a Williams Stars and Bars 5MG-1 at some point, which has helped for some general diagnostics, but the logic of operation naturally doesn't quite line up.  I don't know if there's a Williams version of the 3-liner I have, and if there's a matching schematic, but any info or help would be awesome.

Well this is a bit embarrassing, but looks like wolftalk posted some williams schematics in the very next thread down.  I thought I searched better than that, sorry.  https://newlifegames.com/nlg/index.php?topic=43174.0

Wonder if the 3LF1, 3 line 3 of a kind is similar to what I've got here..?

So looking at the schematic, I see the Line Unit labeled like the attached picture.  It's got four positions, but does this mean it starts in the second position?  Right now mine starts in the first position, but requires four taps on the coin finger to light all 3 lines.  It resets the line unit on the first, then steps up on subsequent.

That seems to have somewhat helped.  I've shifted the biscuit of the Line Unit to start at the second position.  Now it accepts three coins, lights up the lines in the correct order, and plays.  It even intermittently awards coins, but it seems like it only works the first few plays before it warms up. 

The manufacturer plaque is gone, however somebody labeled the relay board with a 3LF-2.  I'm working with the 3LF1 schematic from wolftalk's page, but it references stars, which my machine doesn't have.  I'm not sure if that's a direct swap in for the bars that this one has, or does somebody have the 3LF2 schematic?
