MLD conversion on G20 - Cheaper to buy another G20 already WITH MLD?

Now that I've owned a G20 AVP - I really want a MLD a screen for the better games, but after researching this, In 2024 is really Cheaper to just buy another $1100 G20 already WITH MLD?

*Can G20 with MLD still play NON MLD games, also?

Yep!  If you get a good price on it.  I don't think they made G20's with an MLD screen.   But I could be wrong.

But in most cases, it's far too much hassle to convert a machine to MLD.  You will need the MLD screen, the entire door itelf as an MLD has a different door mount and you have to redo the wiring, and a different wiring harness for power on an MLD screen.

With the parts, time and effort.  It's often about the same or cheaper to just get another machine.

Plus if you convert, you lose your standard screen AVP.  MLD's can't play std screen games.

I have both MLD and standard screen G23's.   They both have their own good points and both have roughly the same number of games, different from the other. 

Was worth getting the second MLD machine, already had my ekey and such that works on both of them.

I did recently find out that some MLD games play fine on a std screen.   Elvis the King and SATC Big Diamonds do.  But CSI and a few others I tried didn’t.

Must be the same with std on MLD.  But I have no idea how many will work cross platform like that.

For me, it’s nice to have both since the NVRAM usage would get a bit high with all the games I want on just one machine, so each machine has plenty of games with the NVRAM around 75%.

As does the G20's I have MLD machine playing NON MLD games all day long.  Now trying to play a MLD game on a NON MLD screen and break out the e-key after clearing the red screen and removing the game all the way.

I haven’t tested extensively.

But when loading MLD games on a std machine.  It let me load them.  But games that just wouldn’t work wouldn’t even show on the list to enable/disable games. 

The ones that were listed had no problems playing. 

I’m interested to see if more will.  If enough do, would be nice to have a list so others can load them knowing they’ll run on the machine.  😁
