IGT Slant Top Catch A wave screen flashes solid colors upon turning on

Received this for free, Catch A Wave Slant top IGT game.  Monitor has a crack in it so touch screen doesn't work but I have verified monitor does still display a picture.

The free cabinet has a bad PSU, I took the PSU from my other IGT Slant top and placed it into this one, it powers up however the screen just flashes solid colors(I forget the sequence but its like Red, Green, Blue and maybe another color or two).  Not sure if this indicates a bad board or what else could be wrong.  Any ideas?

Let it finish going thru the colors, it's booting up!

I feel dumb now, I've never had a machine that flashes solid colors on the screen when booting up(even my other IGT Slant shows like a initializing game or something).

Some sets go thru the colors and some don't. I believe it's the older sets that do not.

I was assuming it was to warm up the CRT electron guns and deflection circuits so that when the game video comes up it is in convergence, and correctly positioned under the touch screen. I was thinking the older games would be likely to do the colored screen routine, before LED displays were being installed in the cabinets. You may be right tho. I'll have to try some of my older games.

Mostly it's the older EPROM based game king software does not scroll through colors during bootup.
