BB2 Kiss software
« on: October 26, 2024, 02:25:09 pm »
Can anyone tell me the difference between the colossal Kiss software with and without dongle. Apparently both are out there for sale. The dongle version is much more expensive. Are they any differences in the games other than the price

It’s my understanding that the non-dongle versions were somehow modified so they don’t need a dongle. You usually notice that the dongle version is 1gb and the non-dongle is 2gb. I personally have the dongle version, so I’m not really sure how the non-dongle version works.

Plays the same on either one.

Only caveat is the no dongle version that was modified and is of course larger, also has an OS which has been modded to go with it.  And if you leave the machine running for about 12 hours it will "unlicense" itself.  The mod invokes a "network license".  If it can't reach said network license server, so it allows it to run normally without a license by design for 12 hours as it believes that it will eventually contact a license server.   There is no license server to reach, so that temporary license expires.

But anytime the machine is rebooted it's then licensed again for 12 hours.

Few home users leave their machines running 24/7 and just power the machine on when they want to play so this is rarely seen or a problem.

But if you do leave it running all the time, you would see this behavior and it would probably be annoying.

Most no dongle games don't do this.  But there's a set of games like KISS, Bier Haus, and some others where the game CF is larger (many are actually 4GB for the no dongle version compared to 1GB for the dongle version) that will all behave this way, and all of these games must use the same modded OS CF to run as they were all modded by the same person.

I didn’t modify the os its just a stock 13:34. that is however the only os that i have found that opperates in this way.
