WMS BB1 Won't Clear Sleeping Forever

Hello all. Need a bit of advice here. Picked up a bb1 recently.  Previous owner said it worked fine, then he had stopped using it and eventually moved it into the garage.  Got the machine home, changed the batteries, and tried to clear with an 1810 clear card. I do have another bb1 that works fine as well as a bb2, and my 1810 works on both of them.

I  tried my 1810 in the new machine,  and got this message (pictured) and it won't go past it. Thinking it's my 1810, I cleared my working bb1 and installed the new games CF cards, ZEUS, and was able to clearcand load, set up, and play it. So..the cards work, but the new machine isn't clearing
I never saw a sleeping forever, so not sure what to do.  Any advice would be appreciated

The display shows an SPI error, which is usually the SJUR chip.  Swap the sjur chip from your working machine into the one that doesn't work and see if it comes up.

I swapped the SJUR Chip, but same message. Someone suggested pull the batteries, unplug for 10 min, then try again, but that didn't help.

1. Reseat mpu to make sure it is nice and locked down. if not...
2. Swap the whole mpu, if it doesn't work.
3. Look for bent pins where the mpu plugs in.  if not...
4. Replace backplane.

Since you have multiple machine and one is known to be working, you should be able to test parts on either cabinet to see which one is the offending part.  It's a pain the #$@, but it is the easiest to way to diagnose it.

I was going to swap mpu's and see if that's where the problem was. It looks simple enough to do. The backplane looks a bit more advanced since more is connected to it. I did notice on the new machine, the MPU cooling fan is frozen.  I don't think that's the problem of it not booting or clearing. For now it's on the back burner.  I paid $100 for it, and the game and glass was probably worth it alone. Then there's the 950 printer, the monitor, power supply, Mars validator assembly.. etc. So, it looks like my old bb1 has a new game added to its collection and my most recent bb1 will be a parts machine for future projects.  I will try the MPU swap first. If that doesn't work, I tap out.
My working bb1 has a blue mpu, and a green backplane.  The ZEUS I just obtained, both are blue. Not sure what the difference is. Most of my machines are IGT and Konami.  A couple of Aristocrat.  I don't have alot of experience with wms. The 2 I do own have been problem free.

It's something to do with that Zeus game...I had that message once...I just remembered now.
I think you need a different OS card.
Post a clear photo of the two cards and their labeling.

With Rick's advice, I started one by one..making sure the mpu was tight. No bent pins. Then I decided to throw my working MPU into it, and it RAM cleared and booted right up. So..seems like the problem is in the MPU. Maybe something got damaged by the broken cooling fan. Who knows. I know very little about WMS systems, but we all know the damage a bad cooling fan can cause. It's set up and running perfect now, and I'll shop around for another MPU that I can put back in my other BB1.

Glad you got it going with another MPU.
Sounds like the CF cards are ok.
