1202 questions

Trying to figure out which manual I need for this.  Only things that aren't  right are the tilt light is on (guessing because the reset key has been jumped) but the machine still works (takes coins and pays) and the square candle is missing light bulbs. So with this being the age it is it "should" be a e series machine but upon my initial lookover I dont see any chips in this. Here's a Pic of the outside and if you need more specific pics I'll get them to you.

5 reel, 3-line progressive.  Pretty much the end of the line for EM machines.

I don't have any useful docs on any 1200+ machines.  If you ever find any, I'd love to borrow/scan/post them.

the 2400 and 2600 manuals are probably still good for the bulk of the machine.

the game circuits are probably similar to the 1099-1 ... https://bingo.cdyn.com/slots/1099-1/

In the meantime, if you want to email as many highest possible resolution pictures as you like to slotpics@cdyn.com, I'll add them to https://bingo.cdyn.com/slots/ ... see https://bingo.cdyn.com/slots/956-22/pics/imagegallery.php for examples

the tilt light usually turns on when the hopper cutoff relay is unpowered.  The HCR should power on the first spin and stay powered, but you can push a button inside the cabinet to power it.  The HCR circuit has a diode and capacitor, so an age-related failed cap happens.

since the HCR is there to detect when the payout counter is not stepping and shut off the pay, you can disable the function by misadjusting a couple switches on the thing to turn off the tilt light and always power the payout relay.  You can also physically hold the armature plate down on the coil top with a zip tie or whatever.  If disabling the HCR, might as well disconnect the relay coil so it doesn't waste power or make noise.

I can get you whatever shots of the inside that you would like. One other issue that I'm working on is the fuse on the far left which controls the upper glass and main door bulbs gets really hot.  I'm going to replace the fuse holder and see if that fixes the issue.  It still pays out even when it's disconnected.  And the payout counter doesn't always reset to 0. It might be written out but it's not a huge issue. But please me know what pics you would like.

for pics:
- entire game front
- inside game with door open
- inside of door
- all sides of the reel mech
- hopper top and sides with relays or whatever
- inside cabinet with reel mech and hopper removed and a pic of the handle release relay area
- payout counter
- top insert board if there is one with lots of angles so labels are visible and both sides of stepper units

generally, pics from further away are better as the main goal is to be able to see where various bits are in the machine and wire colors.  When they are high res pics, it's easy enough to zoom in to get more details so close-ups aren't as useful.

hot fuse is almost certainly the holder/clips.  You need resistance to make heat, and there shouldn't be any resistance on the fuse connections.

by payout counter, do you mean the payout counter inside the game controlling pay or the win meter on the top/right of the reel glass?  The win meters get finicky.  SOmetimes you can take them apart and clean them ... also check the wiring to them.

for the payout counter inside the machine, traditionally reset is done by a reel mech B-1 switch (B switches are the horizontal ones on the left side of the reel mech above the coin relay).   Typically has yellow and orange/black wires on blades.  The other switch in the circuit is the zero switch in front of the spiral cam on the payout counter ... make sure it's closing when the payout counter is not reset.  You can jumper it closed as a test ... its job is to prevent the reset coil from firing when the unit is already reset (no pay on previous spin), but the only penalty for firing too much is wear and tear.

Ok got a bunch of pics but need to edit them down so they will fit.  Replaced the fuse holder and no longer have a hot fuse issue.  Yes the win payout on the front was what I was talking about.  It registers but doesn't always reset completely to 0. The glass has 1982 copyright so I'm thinking the machine was switched over too this theme at sometime. I cleaned the scoring disc and it seems to be paying correctly other than an occasional one cherry on the top line.

please just email the highest resolution pics to slotpics@cdyn.com or stick them on a cloud drive/file sharing site and I'll fetch.

downsizing so they can be posted here isn't ideal.
