I came across a video of a guy working on a Williams 550 recently and noticed that on his MPU board there was a ZIF socket for the XU-3 chip. I thought this would be a great idea for the dotmation machines as well. I remember Kirk From Las Vegas telling me that problems with the mpu's often stem from a loose or faulty connection at the XU-3 chip socket. The one in the video I saw had a screwdriver head for the actuation which would be ideal, but all I can find is some lever types. I saw ones with round pins, long pins, rectangular pins, etc. Would really prefer if there are ones you can insert like a regular chip and not have to solder them in. I'd like to know if anyone had ever tried these on the Dots and how it worked out.
