POG not booting

I picked up this POG, worked fine when I checked it out.
Fired it up after 4 hour trip home and the touchscreen isn't working.
The wiring is a tangled mess.
While I'm trying to see if there is anything glaringly wrong, I think I arced something against the board.

I cleaned up all the wiring but only found 1 wire disconnected (speaker wire).

Observations....
There is a tiny wire soldered across two points near the 28 pin connector. I have no idea what they connect. Pic attached - Jumper

There are some traces that are damaged near the 28 pin connector. Pic attached - Trace

There is a Diagnostics Keyswitch w/ a key.

There is no Attendant Keyswitch at all. The wire from the connector doesn't connect to anything, its just bundled with other unused wires.

Pin 1, 2, A, B are all good grounds.
Pin 3, 4, C, D are all 5VDC.
Pin 5 is -5VDC (Pinout says -12vdc, but N/U) so I assumed not relevant.
Pin 6, F are both 12VDC

So, power supply and wiring to the board is all good.

Dipswitch settings are 2, 4, 8 on.

Board is T340+ Pic attached - Cab

Currently-
When I power on, the BV cycles, the TS comes on but says no signal, there is a pulse in the speaker, there is a small red led on the far right of the board that flashes with the pulse, and three leds along the bottom of the board light up.
Thats it.
Turning the Diag Key makes no difference.

Where do I go from here?

Do you have the 10-pin power connector on backwards?
There's no power connector plugged onto it in your photo above.

Strange....I've seen a POG game board without the 10-pin power connector.
Your board is showing 10 unused gold contact pins left of the longer 56-pin connector.
Those 10 contact pins are normally reserved for power connection.
It appears also that someone spliced part of the power harness into the rightmost pins of the longer connector?
See the black electrical tape?

Can you tell us exactly what game board that is?
I may be able to locate a wiring schematic for your board on the pins and wiring.

It also looks like a jumper [J12] has melted.  :no:
That could account for the "arcing" you saw?

I pulled the tape off and checked, there are no extra wires jumped into the harness there. I don't know why it was taped up like that.

J12 - The little plastic piece on there IS melted, however, it doesn't go to anything. There are no wires leading to or visibly missing from that little piece. Definitely odd though.
And to clarify, I didn't see an arc or hear anything pop, I'm just assuming something arced because the symptoms changed. At first it was just the touchscreen not responding, when I started looking for a problem in the cabinet I lost signal to the screen completely. It seems like the game is not booting up, producing a signal.

I do not know how to identify exactly what game board it is.
I will if you tell me how.

Sorta...I'm wondering what game it is?
Could you post clear photos of the labels on the chips...that might help?
Nevermind...I just looked again...those numbers on the chips aren't helping me find out what POG version you really have.

It might help us in finding a wiring schematic for your board.

It looks like sockets U4 and U7 are occupied with "508" versions of the POG game.
That might help.
I don't know what the difference is between the "508" and your "510" chips yet.
Try a Google search using words like maybe "510 Pot O Gold wiring schematics" ?

It brings up a question....does one side of your board have large and small letters, while the other side has numbers on the header connections?
Check and see what's etched onto the backside of your board by the gold contacts.

Look at the middle photo in the link.

It's possible something burned out on your board?  :scratch-head_3:
Smell it.
Pull off that melted plastic jumper. I think it's supposed to connect between two pins standing up from the board?

Yes, that looks like the same board.
I'll check that out when I get home later.

While less concerning because it worked like this, I'm curious what the jumper wire is doing there...(Pic in first post)
And whether or not I should have a chip on U38 and the damaged traces. (Pic in first post) Every board I've seen pictures of has a chip in U38.

Just gotta keep Googling for wiring drawings for the POG boards and you might see something on that jumper.

To verify, looking at a POG harness for sale from SuzoHapp, it does NOT have or need a 10-pin power connector like Jamma boards or the older 8-liner boards - it only shows that longer header connector...>>>

I looked at the J12 pins and melted cap.
I'm pretty sure whoever soldered the jumper on the board accidently melted the top of that black cap.
And yes, it connects two pins. They are still connected even though the cap is melted.

Physically, there never should have been a need to solder a jumper.
It's only two pins....they could of easily bent the two male pins closer together and soldered them if that was so important and throw some heat shrink wrap on top.
This was some hack job for sure.

As far as the that bridging some circuitry traces...maybe the board was shorted before you got it, and somebody tried to repair it?
I'd check the pinout drawings and see if the wiring in your cabinet mateches it.
Check for continuity between each ends of the harness connections....there could be a break you're not seeing without a multimeter.

I verified all the wiring, it was ugly but functional.
I did not have any way to check the board, so I bought one and swapped it in. With the new board, the game booted right up.

Does anyone repair T340+ boards?
