Bally 937 not resetting
« on: April 25, 2026, 03:57:53 pm »
Hi, I am having two problems with my Bally Lucky twins machine. They may be related as they both started at the same time.
* handle doesn't always reset as seen in video (link below). This is intermittent, when I open the door it often does reset. When I mimic a coin in without the reels in, it resets fine every time. Coil works and switch look good.
* after a payout, the hopper doesn't reset. The winner paid light doesn't go out and it stops paying out future wins. It has a two game hopper and this happens with either red or green payouts or both at the same time.
Video link below. Hopefully the picture of the machine is not sideways...

I appreciate any help on this.

Randy

if the reel mechanism doesn't wind up and kick/spin the reels, the coin relay on the left side of the reel mech won't mechanically reset.

if the coin relay stays tripped (coin accepted light is on), then the handle release relay won't stay reset/latched.

the payout counter units reset when a reel mech B switch pulses closed.  Reel mech B is the horizontal switch right above the coin relay, and it also requires the reel mechanism to wind up and kick.  When the payout counters don't reset, the winner paid light stays on.

I'd guess something is wrong on the right side of your reel mech ... most likely the pawl isn't rotating clockwise so it pushes on the black trip lever (green arrow below).  If you don't have the toothed black ratchet piece, it's also possible the roll pin connecting the trip lever to the main shaft sheared so the trip lever moves but the shaft doesn't.

post a pic or video of the entire right side of your mech if unsure, and if you're really bored email or stick on a cloud drive a bunch of highest possible resolution pictures of the front of your machine as well as all sides of the major units and inside of the door - especially what's in the top compartment and the payout counters - to slotpics@cdyn.com and I'll add them to https://bingo.cdyn.com/slots/.  If emailing from a phone/tablet, email "actual size" ... the pics are usually a few megabytes each rather than a few hundred kilobytes.

note the below picture is not the at-rest position of the reel mech ... the handle has started being pulled at this point.  See:

Thank you! It was exactly as you said. The prawl was sticky/ gummy and moved back very slowly if at all. Cleaned it up and it's now working  properly.
The lights and hopper problem was due to a bent beau plug pin, which is my fault for probably forcing the reel bundle in the first time I removed it.  I got it back into position and the machine is working perfectly.

Thanks again for your help. I learn a lot from your responses on these machines.

I'll send hi-def pictures of the machine to the address you gave me.
(couple of pics for reference below, probably sideways, LOL)

the beau plugs/sockets should float around a little in their brackets, so unless a pin gets bent when you are tipping the reel mech on its back when working on it, the pins pretty much find their way into the sockets.

'course, it's the long pins that are mainly doing the alignment, so when one of those breaks it's not ideal.

if that long pin ever breaks off, you should have at least one unused pin position on that plug/socket that you can move the wires from the broken pin to.

sometimes a pin can be replaced with a one scrounged from a junk beau plug ... there is at least three different types of beau plugs with different pin mounting methods, so you'd have to see which type you had - mainly by looking at the back/wiring side to see how the pin is retained.   At that point, it can be easier to just replace the whole plug.

if you're lucky, the pin survived the bending well enough and you'll never have a problem with it.
