I think it's something in your settings.

As for size... I just can't make them fit any better. Over the years I've had to find new sources for the comics as they slowly die from online newspapers. I can make them "fit better" in the page but then the font gets microscopic. And if I make them bigger, then you will get a horizontal scroll bar. It's quite a challenge to do this at times! And surprisingly, the three comics we have are from a single source. When they were from other sources, I had to tweak the HTML to make them fit.
