2 or 4, space for more?

So for the 3902 MPU, some games have 2 game chips and some have 4. When changing games made for the 3902, where would the other 2 game chips go? I bought GameKing 3902 software on the 044 adapter board and was told the chips could be installed on the 3902. Different number and type chips. I'm quite comfortable and capable of swapping and Key/Clear chipping and full setup etc..
 What am I missing here?

Next boggle,,, I have a GameKing with 3902 and an IGame with 3902 board. They have different Mlite boards as the GK uses DIPPs and IGame uses SIMMs. I've bought games for the 3902 and seem to keep getting chips with the SIMMs. My goal is to get software for the GK using DIPPs. Or can I use a SIMM Mlite card on the GK 3902?
 It is a bartop GK so it doesn't need glass.
Will the IGame 3902 MPU tray and software work in the GK? If so then I would get a tray for each software package.
 Am I off track or is it doable?

Game king  4.x and older I-games use all eproms (MML1 sound board)  Game king 5.x and newer I-games use simms (MML2 sound board)  Yes trays are the same.
