Summit conversion 922-qz

This is my first Summit / Bally machine got it because it was cheap enough for a parts machine.
Mostly work on Bally EMs, but wanted to try and get it running if possible.
I got the machine somewhat running after replace the removable IC sockets.
Was reading some place about reel timing, but not sure if it pertains to this machine.
Do the reels need to set at a certain position when being re-installed?
The machine does not respond to the coin in switch.
If I manually trip the handle release the reels will kick, but not stop spinning.
Apparently the reel stop solenoids don't fire.
Occasionally the coin in diverter will oscillate and the handle release coil energizes.

I think that piece with the switch next to you boards looks like a power supply.. You might want to see if it have a bad cap inside or maybe a chip that could you could remove and clean its contact/legs, then reinstall it.. I do have a picture some where that shows what does what in the red board.. I remember seeing things like reel stop, etc. in the pic...

For the information, you're thinking a capacitor is causing the off and on movement on those coils
or just a malfunction in general.
Have'nt checked behind the power switch. Will look for anything that might use a good cleaning.
I checked the battery and it was very weak. Doesn't appear to be the type to take a charge.
Also been informed the machine will run without battery. Just no memory.
What about reel timing, would it apply to this machine?

I'm far from a Summit expert.. Actually I run the other dirrection when I'm offered one. I just gather pieces of information here thinking it might come in handy someday.. I think that board pics on my phone. If it is I'll get it posted. It just shows the lay out of the red board and what each section does. At least your summit does power on.. I would put the boards and clean the edge connections with a pink eraser too..

Thanks for the photo.
I myself won't buy a Summitfied machine unless it was dirt cheap. The exterior parts ( chrome ) is in great shape, plus the coils and mechanical parts is the main reason I got the machine
But thought I would take the challenge see if I could get it running without putting $$$ into it.
