WTB: I-game cooling fan (quiet)

If you really want to keep a cabinet cool you need 2 fans.  One as a fresh air (filtered) in and another as an out or exhaust fan. Preferrably bringing cool air from the bottom of the cabinet.  The problem with a single fan is that there is not enough positive pressure to drive the air through the cabinet efficiently.  You want to move as much air as possible through the cabinet.  With 2 fans you could prolly get the quietest ones and create a more efficient system.  I actually bought a couple of 20mm fans for a different application and boy do they blow.  They are like jet engines both in sound and in CFM.  Noise and CFM generally go hand and hand.  You usually sacrifice one for the other. Good luck.  Also as the other member mentioned ball bearing vs sealed bearing or sleeved will make a sound difference although CFM will be the biggest culprit.

If you buy fans meant for enterprise servers, they sound like jet engines for sure, but the airflow is considerably different.  If you want quiet, you want bigger, like 120mm or larger, but then you have to modify the vent holes to accommodate the bigger fan.  I usually only keep the machines on for the duration of my gameplay, so I unplug all the cabinet fans while I'm using it if the noise bothers me.  Do not ever unplug whatever fan cools the mph board, or the monitors.

Just so you know the quieter the fan the less RPM which translates into less CFM.  So you put a quieter fan in the and you may be compromising the cooling.  If you want to quiet down a fan inside a cabinet you can install sound deadening material inside the box to absorb the noise.  I did this on a 26" Wellsgardner monitor I have.  It really helped cut down the noise considerably.
