Having problems doing a clear/set on my 4 reel S2000

I'm having problems getting my 4 reel S2000 up and running.

For starters...I'm getting that nasty error...Display Netplex link is down.

I've checked to make sure the power supply behind the reels is thoroughly connected.

During the SET, once I get to the key chip config screen, hitting the spin reels button does absolutely nothing. I'm stuck at this point. If I power the machine down then back up w/ the door shut, I'm getting a coin in jam. The machine is currently set up to be coinless.

Have no clue what to do next.

What MPU version is in your machine? Post a picture if you can't identify it

The MPU is the s2000 enhanced.

On this particular machine, there is a burnt connector on the the I/O board plug, (the one on the inside of the door, closest to the hopper. The burnt terminal is #10 and it's an orange wire.

I've never seen this type of terminal. What terminal type is it, and where can I buy some?

Not sure where to get those or the tool to remove it for replacement, but it's been talked about here on the site. For starters, I would remove the green battery under the daughter board and cut the legs or remove the transistor next to it at board location U16. A weak or dead Varta battery will throw a netplex down error on the enhanced MPU

This is actually a board I just bought. I had removed the varta battery on the one that had come w/ the machine. I tried removing the U16 on the original board. I would up pulling the pad from the board. I tried using my soldering iron to heat and remove it, but that didn't work. I don't want to have to invest in a hot air station in order to remove the surface mount components.

Just clip the legs off. As long as it's out of circuit that's all that matters

I agree--just clip the 3 legs of the regulator with a good flush cut nippers.  If you then apply heat to the other side of the regulator it should just slide or pull off.  No expensive hot air tool is needed to do this.

That's the method I tried using on the 1st board. I had my iron cranked as high as it would go...875 degrees. That wasn't enough heat to remove the component.

I'm guessing that just clipping the 3 legs that are on one side of U16 should do the trick. I can just lightly bend the component upwards so that the 3 snipped "legs" won't make contact w/ the board.

This "should" do the trick....right?

Clip the legs and bend them slightly away from the transistor or desolder them from the board. Leave the body of the transistor where it is, no need to overdo it. It's not like the legs are going to arc across to the transistor, not nearly enough voltage there for that to happen. You kust don't want the legs touching each other or the body of the transistor
