After replacing MB battery, will not cash out

I had to replace the battery on the motherboard (I installed a removable battery) and I used the RAM clear EPROM and BV EPROM on my IGT S+ slot.


Pushing the cash out button does not pay out any coins.  There are credits available and coins in the hopper.


What do I need to do to get the coins to pay out?

In regards to your question.  If you used the ram clear, there should be no credits on the machine at all.  Did you put money in after the clear?  If not, post a picture of what your displays look like.

Yes, I did run some coins through the machine.


I also tested the hopper by doing this, it works fine....


To test the hopper while the door is open, open the door and press the little white test button a few times until you see the number [3] in the "Credits Played" window.
Now you can force the hopper pay out 10 coins each time you press the "Play" button on the door or turn the Reset switch.

I looked at my switch and saw that the door cable was routed through the wiring at the base of the cash out button switch.  It was broken apart..... so thats why it wasnt working.


Im trying to find a place to order the switch part at the bottom of the button (where the wires attach).


Anyone know the part I need and where to get it?  I havent had much luck so far.

If someone doesn't have just the button switch you need here's a place that has a lot of parts and photos showing how the parts look. You can get a new 1" square button assembly with switch for less than $2.

Im thinking of just replacing them all with LED bulbs and replacing all the buttons.  The only thing I think is different is that the legends I have now are yellow. (or maybe changed color from smoke and the years of the bulbs?)

I also need to get a new connector for the two wires that go into a connector in the metal panel on the door..... one came out when I was just looking at it.

You can get the LED's or LED button assemblies from several places, just ask around here for opinions on the best ones to use. A lot of people have converted their machines to LED buttons. Some LED's have a softer or more even light output so it is best to seek advice before buying a set you may not like. The good thing about LED's is they give off much less heat and consume less electricity.
 
The yellowed buttons are probably from the heat of the bulb over the years but some discoloration could be from the ever-present casino cigarette smoke. You can remove one button lens and try cleaning it with dish detergent and warm water to see if it will clean up. Seems like someone mentioned a lower heat bulb that can be used, it is a little less bright but doesn't yellow the buttons as bad. I *think* these button bulbs are 6.3 volt wedge style, but you'd need to check on that to be sure. They typically are around 1.5 watts each but that varies with the bulb part number.

If they don't clean up and you want to replace the yellowed button legends they are available at different places.

As said earlier, if your machine uses the 1 inch square buttons they can be bought new for low cost, but you may need to reuse your old button legend on the new plain button, or get a sheet of button decals that you install yourself.

If you post a photo of the bad connector on the metal door panel someone here may recognize it and say what needs to be done. Did the wires with their pins/contact just pull back out of the connector? Maybe the locking flange on the side of the pin/contact is bent and you can repair it?

That 2 wire connector with the broken wire may be repairable. Not saying this is what you did but sometimes this happens if the wires are pulled on instead of holding on to the connector itself, so we've heard of this type of thing  happening before. In the factory the wires are crimped to the pins and then inserted into the connector housing. If the crimp isn't very tight the wires can pull out sometimes, even with not much pressure on the wire.

Others here may have some good ideas and suggestion, here's what I'd think about doing. One way to reattach the wire to the pin inside the connector is by soldering it, if you are familiar with doing that. To get the tip of the iron onto the pin you may have to cut away a part of the white plastic connector body. That would be ok as long as it doesn't cause a problem with the connector staying connected when you're done.

If you were to get a new connector you'd have to attach both wires to the new connector. Another idea would be to get that 2 wire cable from someone parting out a similar machine, like the person currently in the Classifieds that is parting out his S+ machine. You could contact him to see if he'd send you the 2 wire cable. You'd need to find the other end of the 2 wire cable and know where to connect the replacement cable when you get it. Here is his ad:

How could I solder that?  The pin is inside the plastic...

Is there not enough of the pin sticking out to be able to work with? Can you force the pin back out of the connector, attach it to the wire, then reinsert the pin into the connector? The pin likely has locking fingers/tabs to keep it from easily coming out of the connector, so forcing it will probably bend them. This means it wouldn't lock in place after attaching the wire, so this isn't an ideal way to fix it. But the tension of the mating pins plus you could add a plastic-tie around both wires near the connector to hold it in place. They make a pin extraction tool for removing these pins but it may not be worthwhile to get one if you can just get another 2-wire cable for low cost and be done with it.

A new pin/contact would have to be crimped or soldered to the wire, then the pin inserted into the white connector after removing the old pin. That's why it is probably better to leave the pin in place and solder the wire to it if you can. Or see about getting another wiring cable from someone.

If I'm not mistaken, that's the power for the fluorescent tube behind the belly glass.  You'll want to make sure you get a good connection for that (and be sure to cap it off if you're currently running the machine without it, as it's got voltage running through it).
